Service 4 and 18 Updates from 1 September 2026

From Tuesday 1 September 2026, Ipswich Buses will introduce timetable updates to Service 4 and rename Service 8B as Service 18.

The changes to Service 4 are designed to improve punctuality, while Service 8B will be renumbered as Service 18 and provide new Monday-to-Saturday evening connections to Great Blakenham and Claydon.

Service 4 (Ipswich Central – Broke Hall & Bixley) – Minor Timetable Changes

Minor timetable adjustments will be introduced from Monday to Saturday to help improve punctuality and reliability.

Some inbound journeys towards Ipswich Central may depart a few minutes earlier than at present. Customers are encouraged to check the new timetable before travelling.

The service will otherwise continue to operate as normal.

Service 18 (Ipswich – Bramford, Great Blakenham and Claydon) – New Service Number and Evening Journeys

Service 8B will be renumbered as Service 18, giving the service its own distinct identity.

Existing journeys will continue to operate as they do now, under the new Service 18 number.

New evening journeys will also operate from Monday to Saturday, with three journeys in each direction running approximately every 90 minutes until around midnight. These journeys will follow the existing route between Ipswich and Bramford before continuing to Great Blakenham, serving Chapel Lane, and Claydon, serving Edinburgh Gardens, together with all stops along the extended route.

The additional journeys will provide new evening links between Ipswich, Great Blakenham and Claydon at times when no other bus service currently operates.

Customers who currently use Service 8B should look out for the new Service 18 number from 1 September.
