Big Improvements Are Coming to Your Bus Services!

 

From Sunday, 31 August 2025, Ipswich Buses will roll out a series of exciting service enhancements, thanks to support from Suffolk’s Bus Service Improvement Partnership (BSIP). These changes are designed to make your journeys more frequent, more convenient, and create a more connected town.

 

We’re proud to have secured BSIP funding from the Department for Transport, which is helping us invest in more buses, more drivers, and better schedules for the services you use every day.

 

Here’s what BSIP funding will help us to improve from Sunday, 31 August:

 

Service Enhancements

• Service 4 – Doubled frequency during peak times: running every 30 minutes all day (Monday to Saturday)

 

• Service 5 – Improved frequency: running every 12 minutes all day (Monday to Friday)

 

• Services 15 & 15A – Improved frequency: both services running every 20 minutes, at a combined frequency of every 10 minutes all day (Monday to Saturday)

 

• Service 16 – Doubled frequency: running every 30 minutes all day (Monday to Saturday)

 

New Sunday Services

 

• Service 1 – operating every 60 minutes on Sundays & Bank holidays

 

• Service 3E – operating every 60 minutes on Sunday & Bank Holiday evenings

 

Ipswich Buses will also make other punctuality-focused improvements across its network on Sunday 31 August.

 

The BSIP funding will provide the platform to deliver long-term improvements to services, by providing a better experience for existing customers, attracting more people to choose the bus, easing congestion and helping the environment.

With UK Government funding provided through Suffolk’s BSIP, we can make our services more appealing, reduce reliance on cars, and give people a real alternative for their everyday travel.’’
