Fare Review – Effective 20 April 2025

We are making some changes to our fares from 20 April 2025.

Following the removal of government funding of the £2.00 National Bus Fare Cap earlier this year and increases in operating costs such as labour costs and fuel, we need to alter our fares.

Unfortunately, for some customers, this will mean the fares you pay will increase. We understand that, like us, our customers are also facing cost-of-living pressures, and we have done our absolute best to keep any increases we have made as low as possible.

The fare revision will further simplify our fare structures and offset the sustained rise in operating costs whilst doing our best to maintain affordability and offering value for money.

Town Services

Town Services – Summary

• Following the removal of the £2.00 fare cap, the Adult Single fare on our Ipswich Town network will be £2.30. This is no more than our maximum Adult Single fare before the £2.00 National Bus Fare Cap was implemented in January 2023.
• Return fares will be withdrawn. Customers making two or more journeys should purchase a Day Ticket at a reduced price of £4.40 for adults and £3.00 for Under 20’s.
• The Short-Hop fare will be withdrawn.
• The Family Day Ticket will remain at £9.00 when purchased via the Ipswich Buses App and £10.00 if purchased on the bus.
• Pre-purchased period or multi-journey tickets continue to offer the best value for regular travelers and will also see revised prices.

Network Services – Summary

• Some Single fares will alter. The maximum Adult Single & Under 20 single fare charged will remain at £3.00 as we are taking part in the new government National Fare Cap Scheme (capping single fares at £3.00)
• Return fares will be withdrawn. Customers making two or more journeys should purchase a Day Ticket at a substantially reduced price of £6.00 for adults and £5.00 for Under 20’s.
• The Family Day Ticket will be reduced to £15.00 when purchased via the Ipswich Buses App or if purchased on the bus.
• Pre-purchased period or multi-journey tickets will also see revised prices.
