Fare Review - Effective 31st March 2024
We are making some changes to our fares from 31st March 2024.
For some customers, this may mean the fares you pay will increase slightly. We understand that, like us, our customers are also facing cost-of-living pressures, which is why we have done our absolute best to keep any increases we have made as low as possible.
We do, however, need to ensure the sustainability of our service amidst the continuing rise in operational costs, with fares last reviewed in February 2022.
The fare revision will simplify our fare structures and offset the sustained rise of operating costs, whilst doing our best to maintain affordability and offering value-for-money. The company will also continue its participation in the £2.00 fare scheme.
Headline Features of the Fare Review
- A maximum fare of £2.00 for any single journey will be charged.
- The Town £1.80 and old £2.30 single fares will be merged to create a flat £2.00 single fare, with a £1.50 ‘short-hop’ option continuing to be available to customers travelling only one fare stage.
- The Town £3.20 and £4.20 return fares will be merged to create a flat £3.70 return fare.
- The Town Day Ticket will reduce to £4.50 providing improved value for customers travelling on multiple services across the day.
- The Town Fares Zone will expand to offer more competitively priced fares to a greater range of customers to the North, South and West of Ipswich. A map of the Town Fares Zone and routes that operate within the Town Fares Zone can be viewed by clicking here.
- Town & Family Day Tickets will be available to customers through the Ipswich Buses App.
- ‘Country’ tickets and passes will be rebranded as ‘Network’ tickets and passes to underline their validity on the entire Ipswich Buses network.
- Travel for all customers under 20 will continue to be offered at a discounted rate.
- Fares on school services will not change.
